Gum Recession
Gum recession (gums pulling away from the tooth) can be caused by many factors such as:
Brushing too hard
Poor tooth position
Thin gum tissue
Prior orthodontic treatment
Bite problems
Frenum tug
Gingival grafting is often done to correct gum recession. There are several different graft types including:
Connective tissue graft
Free gingival graft
Allograft (human cadaver tissue)
Some of these options involve using tissue from the roof of the mouth, however some do not. We will determine the best type of graft for the situation and review this treatment in-depth, including ways to limit post-operative pain and complications.
